Subject: Jumpy Acceleration on '91 Silverado
Posted By: Jim Fender
Date: 7/17/2006 8:36:00 PM

I have had problems accelerating for a little over a month. It is extremely jumpy at first, and when the engine is warm accelerates a little better. It is a manual and I hit a wall accelerating when I stretch out the gears even the slightest bit. The A/C light blinks until the engine is warmed up. It dies when I turn the wheels hard at low speeds and when I put it in reverse, giving gas remedies the problem. I have recently replaced my TPS sensor, oxygen sensor, plugs, rotator cap, battery, and egr valve. Aside from these replacements, mechanics have been baffled by the problems. Could a small hole in my exhaust just above the oxygen sensor be causing all of these problems? Any suggestions?

Chevy Silverado battery light keeps coming on for "apparently" no reason according to three different dealerships. Alternator has been checked, battery has been replaced, aftermarket radio has been removed and aftermarket alarm has been removed. Anyone else had this problem? (Vehicle bought new 2002)

220,000 miles and still running strong, except when its cold. On cold starts it will start right, but idle down very low, close to stalling. It is a 5 speed manual.Could this be athe coolant sensor? it runs fine once it is warmed up.

truck will start and stay running for few minutes but once i try to drive it down the road it will stall out. I replaced the fuel filter because it sputtered and stalled out like it was a fuel problem this hasnt fixed it. I was wondering where i would be able to find out the proper amount of fuel pressure when the truck is operating properly? I believe the fuel pump may be going out and would like to test the pressure but dont know what it should be at. All other operations check out fine however there is a code with the service engine light # 449 and would like to find out what this code means and what is causing the problem thank you

Subject: 1998 Chevy Blazer Fuel Pump

I took my Blazer in to Speedee today for a routine oil change, and they came and told me that my truck wouldn't start after they filled it with oil. They told me that the after market alarm system (Viper alarm) was causing the fuel pump to shut down. They said they would need to rip out the entire system. We had the truck towed to our home after 6 hours of trying to get it started. It is still not working. This vehicle was running perfectly before I dropped it off there. Plase help!!

My sons best friend has a 1988 audi 90 quattro 5cylinder. The problem seems to be that when he starts the car, it will rev up then drop below normal then stalls. after it stalls it will not restart for several minutes to several hours.
We have tuned it up(new cap, rotor, plugs,& wires.) this did not change the problem any.
Has anyone ever had such a problem? if you own an audi or have any suggetions it would be appreciated.

My truck runs fine when the temperature is below 90, but when it is hot outside it dies at stop lights. I can drive it on the highway fine, but when I enter a town it will die at a red light. I generally have to wait about thirty minutes and then it will start again. The temp gauge isn't reading hot. When I tried to start it today it wouldn't turn over. I can't figure it out, it is fine in the winter and fall but once the weather heats up the truck produces white smoke from the exhaust and dies after driving in town. What is the problem?

After recently replacing the gas tank on a 1992 Chevy Suburban, the engine turns but will not start. It did run before the tank was replaced and I suspect the fuel lines are not connected properly. There are 3 lines that seem to go from the tank to the engine. How do I tell which line should be connected to each of the fuel pump hoses ?

I have a 97 Jeep Grand Cherokee that just died on me while driving. Seemed like it was not getting spark. So I replaced the coil, roter and cap. Checked the fuse box and had a blow fuse as well and was told that the old coil was the probable cause. Replaced the fuse ran for aprox. a mile then died again. Replaced the fuse again this time no good. Now stuck on the side of the road again Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks

I have a 1993 Chevy Beretta GT, v6, a few months ago, I got in it to go to the store, it started fine, ran fine. Got to the store, got ready to leave, tried to start the car, it ran for a few seconds and died. So I had it towed home. I've replaced the fuel filter, and injectors. but still wont start. Sounds like its not getting gas, but I have noticed that if I let it sit for a day or so and try to start it, it starts and dies. I pulled the breather, and sprayed ether in and it started but died. Any possible solutions would be helpfull! thanks!

Subject: 93' S-10 Blzr..No pwr to starter
Posted By: Timn Fleischauer
Date: 6/27/2006 2:37:00 AM

Ok..this is strange. I've replaced my starter, and there is still no pwr to it. Here's what's been occuring:
About a year ago I thought I had a low battery when no starter after turning the key. Then after trying a few times, as we all do, it started! No problem.
Although it has been intermittent ever since, it has been happeening more frequently. I typically have to turn the key several times before the starter connects. Yesterday, no luck at all. Our ice cream melted all over the place!! hahah
Assuming it was the starter, I swithced it out today, but no luck. My blzr is still sitting in a parking lot here in Spokane, WA.
I get all my dash and head lights, but did notice that even though my clock comes on...my pwr button on the radio has no effect and I cannot turn it on. I pulled every single fuse and checked. NONE blown!
I took the original starter to Schucks Auto Supply. It tested as GOOD!

He told me there are no fuses, or relays between battery and solenoid. I just don't get it!!! I even cleaned and reconnected my battery cables.
Anybody have any suggestions or ideas?? You can call me at 509-599-7993 or respond to this so others may be helped as well. I couldn't find this exact problem in any other posts.

Thanks for any help.

Tim

i have a 1988 Chevy S-10 blazer. first starting out by "Bucking" and being a newbie mechanic, i was told to "not worry about it" then two weeks later, it died. would not start. first thought was fuel pump, replaced. then was told timing so replaced timing chain...lots of play in it anyway. got it timed, and still would not start. took out old fuel, added new (about half tank) new plugs, wires, fuel filter. it sometimes (2 times out of 10) starts but when you give it gas, it dies. the jets were spraying nicely. now, still wont start, timed; but now i am not getting any fuel to my tbi carb. what am i missing? or overlooking or not seeing or............??? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

"I have a 98 Chevy S10 and after using my 4 wheel drive in the water to pull out my boat it stuck in 4hi. It has the push button 4X4 and when trying to shift it the light flashes and I hear a click but it will not shift out of 4Hi. Can anyone tell me a possible fix or suggest a trouble shooting path.
