I recently changed my altenator, but kept the same battery. over a period of hours as I wasdriving I noticed the headlights gettingdimmer and dimmer. I brought a new battery, but my question is can an altenator tell if the battery is down.

| I bought a new battery and the lights are ok but the engine will start to crank but will not turn over completely. Is the problem the alternator?
