Subject: Grand Cherokee Lights
Posted By: Dick H
Date: 1/2/2010 9:09:00 PM

1998 Grand Cherokee head lights and interior lights will randomly shut off then turn on then shut off. Occurs infrequently and will sequence 5-6 times then operate normally. Light switch is always set at automatic when it occurs. The flashing can be stopped by manually shutting off and turning the lights back on.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Subject: Transfer Case 96 Jeep Cherokee Sport
Posted By: Bill Burke
Date: 12/8/2009 5:05:00 PM

Can someone help us determine which transfer case we need for a 96 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4 6.0 liter Automatic. Someone is giving us one for our ranch and it needs a transfer case. When we call Jeep/Chrystler there are 2 differenct ones listed for this model - a 249 and a 242. The original part with the part number is missing from the vehicle and no one at the dealerships can seem to help us. If anyone out there has any info on how we can find out which one we need we would greatly appreciate your assistance.

Subject: 1989 liftgate lock
Posted By: Richard Rowe
Date: 12/1/2009 2:02:00 PM

I locked the rear liftgate and when I tried to unlock it the liftgate it will not unlock. When I lock it feels like it is locking, when I try to unlock it feels like it is locking again. Probably isn't, but that is what it feels like. I need to remove the panel, but anything I find says that I should have the liftgate open. Any suggestions as to how to proceed? Thank you.

Subject: 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited liftgate problem
Posted By: CJ Prussen
Date: 11/18/2009 1:05:00 PM

Been a bad month for my Jeep is has 163'000 with 4.7 and runs like new but the
Heater & AC blows out air not hot or cold.
Speed sensor broke can't tell how fast I'm going.
Pass. window stoped working.
But what really got me going crazy is the liftgate icon showing the liftgate door is open when it is not.
I pulled the panel off and unpluged every connection but it still shows.
With that icon on nothing else will show.
Any ideas before I park this on some railroad track.

Subject: 1995 Cherokee Temperature Sensor
Posted By: scott zuber
Date: 7/23/2009 8:23:00 PM

I have a 1995 4.0L. The last three times I have driven it (and it's hot here in LA) once I turn it off, the overflow at the radiator blasts fluid for about 10 seconds or so...emptying the overflow reservoir...I have added antifreeze water mox each time through the overflow (not directly into the radiator) and it just does it again. Took it to Pep Boys and they said that it didn't do it for them...they went ahead and replaced the temperature sensor ...which in ten minutes the NEW one went out on them...they have no idea what it could be and suggested I take it to the dealer or a Jeep specialist...The idiot light on the dash does not light when I turn the ignition to the start position either...I suppose this might be due to the bad temperature sensor?
Any Ideas?

I just bought this 93 jeep it has a 4.o and i am very on familar with this jeep i drove it for a 125 mile from were i bought it and it ran like a charm the whole way threw the city and the mountians i pulled off to get something to eat at the store and went outside to crank it up and it was sputtering and shuting off stalled three more times before i got 4 miles down the road to go home the temp gauge said it was at 210 i check the radator cap and when opening it no preasurre what so ever and did not look like it was flowing i am thinking that it got hot because of the thermsat and all went down hill but would like second opinion
