NEW MAN ON THE BOX FOR NO. 32 Travis Kvapil, driver for the number 32 Tide sponsored Chevy Monte Carlo SS will hear a new voice in Sunday's Samsung/Radio Shack 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. Gary Putnam the team's competition director will now become the new crew chief replacing James Ince who had been the crew chief since September 2005, was released to pursue other options. Cal Weils III , owner of the team felt the team needed to change due to the fact the team is currently sitting 41st in Next Cup Series point standings.
BUSCH SERIES KURT BUSCH WINS IN TEXAS DEBUT Veteran Nextel Cup driver and former Nextel Champion, Kurt Busch made his Busch Series debut on Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway that played host to the O'Reilly 300, where Busch led the final seventy laps to win his first Busch Series race, which also had an extra six laps because of some late race cautions. This makes seven victories for the Nextel Cup regulars, nicknamed the "Buschwackers”. The triumphant Busch said after the race, "Man I had no idea what to expect, these guys are awesome. This is a farm team.”
Greg Biffle, a former Nextel Cup teammate of Busch's was able to get his third consecutive second place finish this season in the series. On all three restarts he couldn't get past his former teammate and said after the race, "At the end, I'd get behind Kurt, I'd get close to him, I tried everything. I pulled out the whole handbook, and I couldn't really do a lot with him.” Casey Mears finished third and Kyle Busch, the younger brother of Kurt, finished fourth, followed by another former teammate of Busch's Matt Kenseth finished fifth.
Point's leader Kevin Harvick is still on top finishing eighth in the race and pole sitter Denny Hamlin is second in points and finished tenth in Saturday's race. Clint Bowyer is currently in third place in points. J. J. Yeley is fourth and Greg Biffle is holding on to fifth place in points.

NEXTEL CUP SERIES KAHNE FIRST POLE SITTER TO WIN AT TEXAS Kasey Kahne on Sunday became the first Nextel Cup driver to win from the pole position at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday in the Samsung/Radio Shack 500. With seventeen laps to go on the final restart, Kahne roared ahead leaving the competition way back in the field. Kahne battled hard and took the lead from Tony Stewart with twenty-seven laps to go before the final caution flag for debris on the track. During the caution Kahne, Tony Stewart and Matt Kenseth, who had lead the race for ninety-nine laps of the race, all ducked into the pits, all of them topped off with fuel and four new tires. So far this year, Kahne has started on the pole twice and won twice, even last year at Richmond Kahne started from the pole and won in his number nine Ray Everham owned Dodge.
At the finish Kahne was first, Matt Kenseth finished second, Tony Stewart finished third, rookie Denny Hamlin had an impressive run finishing fourth and Kevin Harvick finished fifth. Points leader Jimmie Johnson at one time was two laps down in the race but was able to get back and finish eleventh and retain the lead in points by fifteen over Matt Kenseth. With Kahne's win he moved up to third in points, followed by Mark Martin in fourth although is tied in number of points with Kahne, Kahne has had better finishes thus far this season and Tony Stewart is holding down fifth place in the points race.
